Highway Construction & Investigations Auditor

As a Highway Construction & Investigations Auditor you will conduct complex highway construction project audits and analyze MnDOT construction activities, accounting, and engineering data to ensure compliance with state, federal, and project requirements. This position assists the unit supervisor and the Audit Director with the implementation and direction of new policies to aid in the continuity of workflow. This position is expected to maintain confidentiality, discretion, a high degree of ethics, accountability, and professionalism.
 
Responsibilities include:
·        Perform technically complex highway construction audits, special reviews, and investigations.
·        Provide training and assistance to less experienced auditors and participate in professional development training.
·        Serve as technical expert for the unit’s Teammate workflow system.
 
In-state travel is required up to 25% of the time; this includes some overnight travel.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (accounting concentration) and two years of professional auditing experience that includes:
·        Experience conducting financial and/or performance audits and/or investigations.
·        Experience applying generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), operational auditing concepts and compliance with auditing principles.
·        Experience analyzing financial data and legal compliance requirements, including laws, federal regulations, and state rules, policies, and procedures.
