Office Specialist III

THE POSITION
The Financial Analysis and Accounting Division of Human Services Public Health is seeking an Office Specialist III to join the Accounts Payable Team.

Location and hours:
This position is located in downtown Minneapolis at the Hennepin County Government Center at 300 S. 6th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55487. Work hours will be 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

In this position, you will:  
  • Interact in person, over the telephone, and/or electronically to assist with a broad range of requests for information.
  • Review and verify accounts payable check information, stuff and mail out checks, file with supporting documentation, and resolve any related issues.
  • Monitor, review and process daycare provider's billing forms and emergency payment requests in the Minnesota Electronic Child Care (MEC2) application and Social Services Information System (SSIS).
  • Distribute pay cards, representative payee checks and/or bus cards to residents.
  • Answer incoming calls and respond to resident's payment questions and/or redirect them to the appropriate resource, department, or staff.
Need to have:
  • One of the following:
  • Two or more years of full-time office clerical experience.
  • Two or more years of related post-high school education.
  • 18 months or more of office clerical experience and completion of the Office Specialist Pathway Training program or the Healthcare Clerical Pathway Training program.
  • One or more years of office clerical experience and completion of the Human Services Pathway Training Program.
Nice to have:
  • One year or more of accounts payable and/or general accounting experience.
  • Experience:
  • Using the SSIS computer system to perform data entry.
  • Using computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
  • Working in a customer service setting providing excellent customer service.
  • Performing basic mathematical calculations quickly and accurately.
  • Working in a call center or contact center.
  • Ability to:
  • Communicate clearly with a diverse client population and develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Handle multiple complex and simultaneous tasks while recognizing priorities and meeting deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail.
