College Laboratory Assistant 2/Emergency Medical Services College Lab Assistant

Minimum Qualifications:
A. Post-secondary or industry certificate/diploma/degree or relevant licensure in Emergency Medical Services
AND
One year of teaching/tutoring experience in Emergency Medical Services at the high school level or above
OR
B. 4 years of work experience in Emergency Medical Services where no degree/certificate/diploma/licensure is required
OR
C. An equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of basic concepts, principles, and practices within out-of-hospital care field
  • Minnesota Certification in EMT-Basic 
  • Knowledge of EMS apparatus, materials, and processes sufficient to instruct others in its proper use and perform routine maintenance
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Organizational and planning ability
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate orally with students and instructors through short lectures, demonstrations or discussions and possess effective writing and listening skills
  • Ability to maintain a professional approach when assisting students
  • Ability to develop, complete and maintain a variety of records, forms, and inventories.
  • Ability to develop, maintain positive, professional relationships with peers and others within the organization
  • Teaching and/or tutoring experience, including remedial or basic skill development. 
  • Concurrent part-time employment in veterinary clinical setting. 
  • Experience with educationally challenged individuals including adult learners, English speakers of other language backgrounds, non-traditional students, and students with disabilities.
  • Excellent human relations skills. 
  • Ability to take initiative and apply critical thinking when developing effective approaches to instruction. 
  • Organizational skills sufficient to maintain files and documentation for patient medical records.
