Advanced Apprentice Meter Technician

This applicant pool may be used to fill additional openings within 90 days of the posting close date. 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Install and remove self-contained and large power meters and associated equipment used for all revenue/billing metering installations on customer or company property.
  • Responsible for determining accuracy in metering and correct service point metering constants to ensure proper billing for all customers.
  • Test, adjust, troubleshoot and maintain meters, instrument transformers and associated equipment on all metering installations.
  • Test, adjust, troubleshoot and maintains meters on all self-contained installations.
  • Responsible for updating and maintaining AMR and AMI systems and maintaining adequate supply of meters at area offices for proper installation.
  • Perform primary and secondary fault locating.
  • Investigate service complaints for both residential and commercial customers.
  • Will utilize all available information and equipment to perform load checks and voltage surveys.
  • Responsible for performing power quality investigations on site.
  • Perform all aforementioned responsibilities for all municipalities with service contracts including disconnection and reconnection for non-payment.
  • Work closely with key account managers and customer service reps concerning all customers, both municipal and large industrial.
  • Install, test and maintain dual fuel systems at commercial and residential sites.
  • Occasionally clean, inspect, and test company and other facilities rubber goods.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
  • This position requires a two year degree focused on electronics or electrical power technology.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
  • One year of participation in an Electrical Meter Technician Apprenticeship Program
  • OR 
  • One year direct experience in electrical metering technologies work including, but not limited to, installation, troubleshooting, mechanical and electrical repair
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Valid driver's license required
