Forest Fish Biologist

The Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest a vacancy for a GS-0482-11/12, Forest Fish Biologist. The major duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Provides program leadership for all fisheries resources and management activities on the Forest. This is a permanent, full-time position; manages program planning and budgeting for assigned resource management; oversees budgets for current fiscal year and plans for out-year funding needs within assigned area of responsibility; reviews functional programs to ensure that they are consistent with policies, strategies, and program emphasis in approved land management plans; coordinates input from field units to identify targets, recommends funds to subunits and to monitor, evaluate and report on program accomplishments; Develops technical and non-technical guidelines, directives, and methods and other leadership for integrating habitat needs into all land and resource programs just to highlight a few of the duties. The vacancy is open to candidate’s government-wide and to those with eligibility under special hiring authorities.
