Pharmacy Technician

THE POSITION
NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist with processing new/refill prescription orders in accordance with Board of Pharmacy rules and regulations. This position will work on processing insurance information and payment options in support of pharmacy operations as they relate to computer data entry and management, and will also provide customer service through the processing of point-of-sale transactions.
 
Location and hours:
This position is located at 1313 Penn Avenue North, Minneapolis, Minnesota. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., with the possibility of Wednesday evening until 7:30 p.m. and a minimum of one Saturday per month, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Hours will vary.

About the position type:
This is a limited duration (temporary) full-time, benefit earning position expected to last up to two years with the possibility of extension.

In this position, you will:    
  • Comply with all applicable government regulations, Hennepin County and NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center policies, procedures, and professional standards for patient care protocols.
  • Participate in trainings, educational and professional programs, and/or review professional literature on an ongoing basis to maintain pharmacy knowledge, competency, and certification.
  • Perform activities related to the preparation and dispensing of drugs and other pharmaceutical supplies to patients under the supervision of the pharmacist.
  • Develop technical knowledge and competency of products/services provided by the pharmacy in order to provide information and assist patients and clinic staff.
  • Distribute medications or documents to patients at pharmacy point-of-sale windows based on established pharmacy procedures.
  • Assist with implementation of quality improvement program to meet organization and accreditation standards.

Need to have:
  • One of the following:
  • Graduation from a pharmacy technician training program.
  • One year or more of experience in a pharmacy technology or health care related position.
  • A valid pharmacy technician registration in the State of Minnesota.

Nice to have:
  • National board certification as a pharmacy technician.
  • Experience with data entry and data management in a pharmacy environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of pharmacy rules and regulations related to the role of a registered pharmacy technician.
  • Ability to:
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Consult with medical staff in a multidisciplinary setting.
  • Make decisions within the confines of pharmacy rules and regulations.
  • Interrelate in a multi-cultural environment.
