Digital Content Creator

Position Responsibilities:
The Digital Content Creator will be responsible for the creation, design and development of all digital content that extends the organization’s stories and outreach across relevant social and digital channels. The position is also an integral part of a team of five Marines in the Office of Communication who are responsible for advancing the brand of the Marine Band in the following areas:
• Digital marketing to include social media management and content creation
• Website content development
• Writing news articles, and web and marketing content
• Strategic planning and event management
• Media relations, to include media outreach and working with national and local media during high profile events
• Concert planning and publicity for both local concerts and national concert tours
• Convention management
• Educational outreach initiatives
• Photography and digital asset management
Position Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have strong video and design skills and be fluent in the fundamentals of digital marketing. In this team-based position, the Digital Content Creator will frequently collaborate with the Marine Band recording lab and library on production and research projects and will have the opportunity to work across all platforms in the Office of Communication.
Candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in Digital Media, Visual Communication, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Graphic Design or related field and at least three years of industry experience. Knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite and graphic design experience is required. Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends as required. Some travel required during the Marine Band’s annual concert tour each October.
A musical background is necessary, as are the following skills and experience:
• Industry experience (creative agency, digital marketing or production house)
• Experience with creation of engaging digital content for social media and other platforms
• Experience with still photography, editing, animation, motion graphics, location shooting, set design, and post-production (editing, coloring, audio engineering, titles, graphics, etc.)
• High degree of proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including: Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects
• Fluent in social media trends and the landscape in genera
• Proven design experience for social media and all digital platforms, including; Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Web, blog
• Possess an engaging presentation style
• Have strong interpersonal skills and an adaptable approach to work
• Ability to work both autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
*Note: This is a marketing position and not a paid media or community manager position. 
Salary and Benefits:
• $59,000 – $67,000 annually (Marine Corps rank of Staff Sergeant).

Enlistment Qualifications:
Those selected for “The President’s Own” are exempt from recruit training, are appointed to the rank of Staff Sergeant/pay grade E-6 under a contract “for duty with the U.S. Marine Band only,” and are permanently stationed at Marine Barracks Washington. Current regulations authorize enlistment between ages 17 and 28. Age waivers may be granted in some cases; however the maximum age for which waivers may be granted to those with no prior military service is 34. Applicants must also pass the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) and a complete physical examination, which includes complying with established height/weight standards both at the time of enlistment and throughout one’s Marine Corps career. Successful completion of an extensive background investigation is mandatory in order to obtain a Secret Security Clearance. This clearance is a requirement for the assignment of the Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) 5511 - Member, U.S. Marine Band. Due to the length and scope of the security clearance process, it is initiated following the member's enlistment onto active duty. Failure to obtain and maintain this security clearance may result in administrative separation from the U.S. Marine Corps.
