State Bureau Administrator 18 - Executive Director

The Bureau Director is charged with the responsibility for overseeing, awarding, granting, and administering loan repayment and state financial aid programs. These programs provide an essential component for Michigan students and families to afford higher education opportunities. The Director administers a large staff of professional and non- professional employees in three divisions including the 529 Savings Plan Division (Michigan Education Trust and Michigan Education Savings Program, Michigan 529 Advisor Plan); Student Financial Aid and Outreach Division, and Student Loan Repayment Division. This position also directs special projects related to statewide initiatives for financial literacy/empowerment, and the Governor's 60% by 2030 initiative. The Office of Postsecondary Financial Planning (OPFP) also works with other state agencies and partners to administer key programs/initiatives related to higher education funding. The Bureau Director also oversees the Michigan Achieving a Better Life Experience (MI-ABLE) program and oversees and coordinates administrative and financial activities for the Michigan Education Trust Board of Directors.
