Youth Specialist/Childcare Provider

Job Summary
The Link’s POWER Program is a trauma-informed case management and group program for girls 12-20 on probation in Hennepin County. The program’s goal is to appropriately address girl’s needs in the community to prevent further involvement in the juvenile justice system.
The POWER Youth Specialist/Childcare Provider is a part-time position. The POWER Youth Specialist/Childcare Provider will assist the POWER Program Manager and Case Managers. Each group session is scheduled on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. This position will provide support to case managers on group days through assisting with transportation of participants to and from group, providing childcare to children of participants during group time, supporting case managers in group facilitation and activities if no children are present, and attending to meal set up, service and clean up. The POWER Youth Specialist/Childcare Provider will be skilled in building relationships, milieu management, child care, and offering support to participants.
Core Job Functions
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Child Care
  • Provide supervision to pre and school age children
  • Facilitate craft and/or activity
Group Facilitation
  • Provide support to case managers during group activities
  • Facilitate group activities as requested
  • Assist case managers with time-keeping during group
Transportation
  • Organize and Coordinate rides with participants and case managers
  • Provide rides to and from group
Food Service
  • Meal set up
  • Meal service
  • Meal clean up
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Preserve the integrity of the programs and agency

Position Requirements
Education and Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working with young children and/or youth
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and driving history check
  • Access to insured reliable transportation and the ability to drive participants
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
  • Ability to effectively supervise children
  • Skilled in building relationships quickly
  • High level of personal and professional integrity, including ability to protect and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work effectively with and relate to diverse populations
  • Experience working with at-risk populations
  • Ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently organize, coordinate, track and complete multiple tasks as well as adjust to changing priorities
Licenses and/or Certifications:
  • Valid Driver’s License
This position offices in an office building. This position works weekday evening hours.

Compensation: $16.75/hour (non-exempt).
