Community Engagement Coordinator

Status: Full Time, Salaried

Classification: Exempt

Reporting Relationship: Director of Development and Community Engagement

Salary Range: 42,000 - 45,000/ annually

Position Description:

Under the strategic direction set by Keystone leadership, the Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for managing and implementing agency-wide communications, coordinating special events, and supporting development initiatives to engage Keystone stakeholders and the overall community supported by Keystone programs.

Responsibilities include: creating annual communications/events calendar, managing marketing initiatives to elevate the agency brand, co-creating (with the Director of Development and Community Engagement) and implementing communication strategies and integrated communications across print, online, social and external platforms and supporting all agency fundraising events including the annual gala.

In collaboration with program staff, coordinate large special events such as Back to School drive, Annual Spaghetti Dinner, and event logistics related to program specific community engagement activities such as food drives and MN FoodShare Month.

Supports development strategies by helping with Keystone Business Partner program initiatives, assisting with donor stewardship, doing data management and reporting, and other tasks as needed. Maintains positive relationships with stakeholders and grows Keystone’s network of supporters.

Essential Functions

50% Communications & Social Media
  • Raise awareness about organization, building support for programs through marketing, communications, public relations, and media relations.
  • Design print collateral for agency, programs, fundraising initiatives, and coordinate the printing and distribution of materials.
  • Create and execute e-communication campaigns and maintains mailing lists.
  • Maintain agency website, including developing site content.
  • Capture and create stories from participants, volunteers, and stakeholders to connect people to the mission of the organization.
  • Create, enhance and manage the organization’s social media presence with relevant and engaging content, consistent with Keystone brand messaging and guidelines.
  • Design and manage campaigns and messaging on social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Instagram. This includes creating a LinkedIn and Instagram presence. Monitor all social posts and respond to posts/comments timely.
  • Assist with strategy and execution of marketing for Keystone’s social enterprise, Express Bike Shop, including website, social media presence, and print collateral.
  • Serve as co-editor with Director of Development and Community Engagement for all publications and communications.
  • Track and report on metrics and data gathered from social media channels and other marketing programs; provide insights, strategies and feedback

25% Development
  • Create digital and print marketing campaigns for fundraising strategies, donor engagement and stewardship.
  • Assist with Keystone Business Partner program, supporting engagement of businesses as donors and volunteers.
  • Support development with data entry and report generation.
  • Maintain positive relationships with supporters through timely and warm customer service.
  • In collaboration with colleagues, attend and present at community events/chamber events.

15% Special Events Management
  • Oversee all details related to annual special events such as the annual school supply drive, annual spaghetti dinner, food donation drives and others by creating marketing materials, engaging volunteers and community leaders in collaboration with the Volunteer Coordinator, and engaging program staff as needed.
  • Coordinate the logistics for annual fundraising gala including catering, A/V, etc.
  • Offer logistical support for other special events for stakeholders and community.

5% Volunteer Engagement Support
  • Support Volunteer Engagement efforts by assisting with large volunteer engagement efforts and with marketing support.

5% Other
  • Performs other duties or projects as assigned, for the purpose of accomplishing agency objectives.

Qualifications/Preferences:

Education – Bachelor’s degree required.

Experience – 2+ years of experience doing community engagement, communications, project management or special events execution and a passion for human services.

Knowledge & Abilities –
  • Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of and ability to relate to and work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Possess an ability to think creatively about how to engage community partners in supporting the agency.
  • Need to be highly organized and have a strong ability to multi-task, and prioritize tasks in a face-paced setting.
  • Excellent customer service skills are required.
  • Must have a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Adaptability to change while maintaining a positive attitude is necessary.
  • Ability to work independently and as a collaborative member of a team.
  • Previous work in development and/or volunteer engagement is preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in implementing creative marketing strategies, including social media.
  • Proficiency with WordPress, Adobe Creative Suite or other design software, Microsoft Office Suite, and social media platforms including Facebook, MailChimp, Instagram, YouTube, etc.

Physical/Mental Requirements & Equipment Used

Physical working conditions are normal for a welcoming environment. Position requires ability to sit for extended periods of time, close vision, ability to adjust focus and see color. Must have transportation or ability to get to other Keystone sites or community locations.
