SQL Server/GIS Administrator (Technology Engineer)

The position will be responsible Microsoft SQL Server on-premises implementations, GIS server administration, and Microsoft AzureDB implementations. 

The Ideal Candidate Will Have: 
A degree in computer science, networking, or a related field and several years of experience is preferred. Technology engineering level assignment will be determined by the education and experience of the incumbent. The ideal candidate will also have experience with data architectures, database design, and database development; stored procedures and views; backups, restores, and other DB maintenance tasks; database connectivity; database tuning and optimization; SQL Server security.

Knowledge of:
  • Windows Server operating systems;
  • SQL Server performance and tuning;
  • SQL Server integration services;
  • SQL Server reporting services;
  • Microsoft Visual Studio (VB.net and\or C#);
  • SQL Server operational activities (backup\recovery, DBMS maintenance);
  • data center automation techniques.

Skill to:
  • communicate effectively with fellow IT staff on complex technology solutions;
  • develop Visual Studio applications;
  • manage Windows Server;
  • work with application development;
  • trouble shoot problems.

Additional Preferred Skills (training will be provided on these if absent):
  • ARCGis Server administration;
  • Microsoft AzureDB administration;
  • SQL Server Business Intelligence technologies;
  • Internet Information Server basics.

Ability to:
  • develop SQL jobs for data exports, data purges, and error monitoring;
  • investigate and resolve SQL job failures (typical SQL jobs could be for ETL processes or for data integration);
  • develop internal automation procedures for the data center to enable seamless process in IT operations;
  • use SQL Server performance analysis tools to improve TSQL query performance;
  • develop complex TSQL queries;
  • research, evaluate and recommend new technology solutions;
  • develop Microsoft Visual Studio applications.
