Who We Are:
 
Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD) is a State of Ohio agency that partners with Ohioans with disabilities to achieve quality employment and independence.  We are also charged with making determinations on Social Security disability. 
    
What We Do:
 
OOD works with partners to facilitate customized employment plans for Ohioans with disabilities, helps Ohio companies recruit and retain employees with disabilities and we are the sole agency administering the Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) programs in Ohio.  To learn more about OOD click here.
    
Our Divisions:
 
The Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation (BVR), a division of OOD, provides individuals with disabilities services and supports necessary to help them attain and maintain employment. Disabilities may include physical, intellectual, mental health, or sensory disabilities.
 
The Bureau of Services for the Visually Impaired (BSVI), a division of OOD, provides individuals with low vision and blindness services and supports necessary to help them attain and maintain employment.   
 
The Division of Disability Determination (DDD), a division of OOD, in agreement with the Social Security Administration (SSA), determines medical eligibility for Ohioans who apply for Social Security disability benefits.
 
Division of Employer and Innovation Services (EIS), EIS works to raise awareness of OOD’s mission with employer partners, to promote a talent pool of job-ready candidates, and to support businesses in the hiring and retention of individuals with disabilities.  In addition, EIS is instrumental in the development and implementation of the agency’s strategic plan to ensure that client and stakeholder expectations are met, while providing value to Ohio taxpayers through efficiency, effectiveness and accountability of services.
    
What does an Information Technologist 3 do?
 
At OOD, the duties of an Information Technologist 3 (IT3) can vary depending on the needs of the area. These duties may include answering the telephone & responding to emails received for the IT help desk; assisting customers who have issues with their hardware, software, desk phone, cellular phone, printers, fax, assistive technology equipment and software; troubleshooting with customers to determine the nature of and resolution for reported issues; assisting with IT equipment deployment; updating & repairing IT hardware and software; assisting with business process analysis; monitoring & assisting users with third party IT supported devices.
    
Characteristics of a successful Information Technologist 3:
 
  • Ability to deliver excellent customer service;

  • Intermediate knowledge of personal computers & peripheral operating systems (System Center Configuration Manager, end point security software & Microsoft Office);

  • Ability to effectively utilize basic level local area and wide area networking concepts, Information Technology Infrastructure Library, remote imaging of machines, intermediate level software distribution, & configuration of management tools;

  • Ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical audiences;

  • Time-efficient, organized & quality driven;

  • Ability to multi-task;

  • Ability to work well in a team environment

Qualifications

 
Completion of undergraduate core program in computer science or information systems AND 12 mos. combined work experience in multiple areas of assigned responsibility (e.g., infrastructure, database administration, software development, business process analysis) as specified by the agency position description & job posting.

OR

36 mos. combined work experience in multiple areas of assigned responsibility (e.g., infrastructure, database administration, software development, business process analysis) including 12 mos. combined work experience as specified by the agency position description & job posting. 

OR

Equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.

Customer support & personal service, state & agency policy, procedures & applicable laws*, vision, mission & goals of agency*, intermediate-level software distribution& configuration management tools (e.g., imaging laptops, pulling software, distributing software in System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)), basic-level topology, protocols & network equipment (e.g., determine connectivity & Internet Protocol (IP) addresses), basic-level local area & wide area networking concepts (e.g., use of command-line tools to verify network connectivity), intermediate-level back-up & recovery techniques (e.g., remotely imaging machines by SCCM, various file recovery techniques), intermediate-level change management systems (e.g., understand concepts of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) in order to monitor & report change), intermediate knowledge of Personal Computers (PC) and peripheral systems analysis (e.g., performance baseline monitoring), appropriately interpret and communicate technical information to technical& non-technical audiences orally, appropriately interpret and communicate technical information to technical & non-technical audiences in writing (e.g., technical report writing, end-user instructions, Standard Operating Procedures), define complex problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions & synthesize solutions, stay abreast of current technologies in PC/peripheral operating systems (e.g., SSCM) and end-point security software (e.g., McAfee)

Selection Process:
 
These positions are filled through a two-part process, which consists of a computerized assessment and structured interview. Testing for this position is tentatively scheduled for the week of March 2nd in Columbus, Ohio.
