Who We Are:

Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD) is a State of Ohio agency that partners with Ohioans with disabilities to achieve quality employment and independence. We are also charged with making determinations on Social Security disability. 

What We Do:

OOD works with partners to facilitate customized employment plans for Ohioans with disabilities, helps Ohio companies recruit and retain employees with disabilities and we are the sole agency administering the Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) programs in Ohio. To learn more about OOD click here.



Our Divisions:

The Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation (BVR), a division of OOD, provides individuals with disabilities services and supports necessary to help them attain and maintain employment. Disabilities may include physical, intellectual, mental health, or sensory disabilities.

The Bureau of Services for the Visually Impaired (BSVI), a division of OOD, provides individuals with low vision and blindness services and supports necessary to help them attain and maintain employment.   

The Division of Disability Determination (DDD), a division OOD, in agreement with the Social Security Administration (SSA), is looking for Disability Claims Adjudicators to assist in determining eligibility for Ohioans who apply for Social Security disability benefits.

Division of Employer and Innovation Services (EIS), EIS works to raise awareness of OOD’s mission with employer partners, to promote a talent pool of job-ready candidates, and to support businesses in the hiring and retention of individuals with disabilities. In addition, EIS is instrumental in the development and implementation of the agency’s strategic plan to ensure that client and stakeholder expectations are met, while providing value to Ohio taxpayers through efficiency, effectiveness and accountability of services.


What Does a Senior Financial Analyst Do?

At OOD, a Senior Financial Analyst prepares complex reports using Excel, Tableau, Cognos, etc. and analyzes data to resolve errors; ensures agency case service systems properly interface with the state’s accounting system (OAKS), performs a monthly reconciliation of payments; facilitates discussions and leads projects such as OOD’s vendor portal and the use of the state pcard for consumer purchases; secures and verifies Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA) prior approval and monitors spending against approved amounts; provides support and guidance to field offices; develops reporting to confirm accuracy of vendors flagged to receive a 1099 and validates data on a quarterly basis; prepares and submits annual reports (e.g. GAAP, SEFA, E2 travel expense reports); serves as record retention coordinator.

Qualifications

 
Completion of graduate core program in business administration, accounting, finance or related field; 6 mos. exp. or 6 mos. trg. in accounting &/or finance to include an advanced level of experience in spreadsheet software.

-Or completion of undergraduate core program in business administration, accounting, finance or related field; 18 mos. exp. or 18 mos. trg. in accounting &/or finance to include an advanced level of experience in spreadsheet software.

-Or 42 mos. exp. or 42 mos. trg. in accounting &/or finance to include an advanced level of experience in spreadsheet software.

-Or 12 mos. exp. as Financial Analyst, 66562.

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.

NOTE: Successful completion of the Fiscal Academy may be substituted for 4 mos. of required accounting/fiscal experience referenced in this portion of the minimum qualifications.
 
Knowledge of: business administration or accounting, applicable state &/or federal laws, rules, procedures & standards governing fiscal &/or budgetary operations*, agency, fiscal & budgetary systems (e.g. AWARE, BEWeb, AS400, DCPS, CATS, OAKS, COGNOS)*, agency, state & federal policies & procedures*, public relations. 
 
Skill in: operation of personal computer & related software, employee training & development.  
 
Ability to: define problems, collect data, establish facts & draw valid conclusions, develop complex reports, prepare & edit technical financial & programmatic reports, records & correspondence, gather, collate & classify information about data, people or things, organize & prioritize multiple work assignments, handle sensitive face-to-face contacts with public & government officials, concentrate with high attention to detail, deal with many variables & determine specific action, collaborate with co-workers on group projects &.or respond to confidential & sensitive inquiries from employees, public & government officials, travel.

Selection Process:
 
These positions are filled through a two-part process, which consists of a computerized assessment and structured interview. Testing for this position is tentatively scheduled for the week of March 2nd in Columbus, Ohio.
