Job Summary

Please note that this posting will fill two (2) vacancies.
 
This position exists in TRA’s Member Benefits department to deliver TRA benefit information and respond to stakeholder inquiries either by phone, chat, in person, or in writing, explaining the TRA benefits and options available as an educator in covered Minnesota public schools, and help them understand the value of retirement planning specific to TRA benefits. The incumbent in this position will perform routine and manual retirement estimates.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
To qualify for this level, you must meet the two criteria outlined below:
 
•Have one and a half years (1.5) of experience administering employee benefits, member benefits, or financial services/insurance products for clients, with the primary focus of delivering customer service, performing calculations, and providing legal explanations or interpreting benefit plans or policies.
OR
•An Associate’s degree in business, accounting, or human resources, may substitute for six (6) months OR a Bachelor’s degree in any field can substitute for this experience.
AND
•Pass, or provide proof of previously passing, the written assessment covering math, table and chart interpretations, grammar, reading comprehension and public relations.
Preferred Qualifications
•Experience administering retirement benefits, with the primary focus of delivering customer service, performing calculations, and providing legal explanations or interpreting benefit plans or policies.
•Experience working with or at Minnesota State Retirement System, Public Employees Retirement Association, or Teachers Retirement Association.
•Possession of an Advanced Degree in communications, public administration, business, accounting, math law or a related field.
•Experience in delivering educational material to adult audiences in a group or individual setting.
Physical Requirements
Requires occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as file folders, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.
Additional Requirements
It is the policy of the Retirement Systems of MN that all employees submit to a background investigation prior to employment. The background check may consist of the following components:
