Position Summary:
The part-time (0.50 FTE) MPH Training Coordinator in the School of Public Health and Health Professions (SPHHP), will collaborate with MPH staff, faculty and community partners to coordinate activities for MPH student field training, and other applied practice or experiential learning program components.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Facilitate student field training experiences with agencies that partner with the School.
• Identify, develop and nurture relationships for the School with community-based organizations, government agencies or other partners.
• Assist in identifying public health needs of agencies through surveys, interviews, focus groups, or other methods.
• Share information about the School’s programs to the public health community to strengthen and expand connections between the School and community organizations.
• Maintain/update documentation, including the Field Education Manual, and web content.
• Support the Assistant Dean for Community Engagement in strengthening the School’s community engagement efforts.
• Identify other opportunities for students to engage with and learn from public health professionals.
• Actively support the Mission of the School and participate on School committees and workgroups, performing other duties as assigned.
The School of Public Health and Health Professions (SPHHP) at UB offers programs at every degree level and is the home to five departments; biostatistics, community health and health behavior, epidemiology and environmental health, exercise and nutrition sciences, and rehabilitation science. It is one of only a few schools across the country that includes health-related professions as an integral component of the public health educational and research system. Faculty and students engage in research and community activities designed to improve the health of populations, communities and individuals. Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years work experience in public health.
Extensive knowledge of community organizations in Western New York with public health in their missions.
Strong interpersonal written and verbal skills with understanding and use of confidentiality principles.
Organizational and administrative skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in public health or related field with 5+ years work experience in public health.
