This recruitment is being conducted to establish a list of eligible candidates that will be used to fill district-wide, current and upcoming, temporary and regular vacancies for the duration of the list, not to exceed one year. Currently, there is one 12-month 100% position located at Moorpark College, pending board approval.
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, the Student Outreach Specialist is responsible for the development, planning and implementation of an outreach/recruitment program to local schools, the community, visitors and special identified populations.
Develop, plan, coordinate and carry-out a comprehensive student outreach/recruitment program including identification of "after-school" course offering needs, events and activities including, but not limited to, campus tours, open houses, high school senior days, and middle school outreach events. E
Serve as primary outreach contact person to local K-12 school districts, community groups and industry; provide a variety of information about the college to prospective students and staff at local schools, community organizations and industry. E
Represent the college at feeder middle and high schools, a variety of pre-enrollment meetings and workshops, and college and career fairs. E
Develop and update outreach brochures, pre-enrollment packets and flyers as needed; assure proper distribution of such to area schools and designated locations within the community. E
Respond to written, e-mail, voicemail and verbal requests for information about the college, its academic and student programs, policies and services. E
Collaborate with the college public relations, institutional advancement personnel and other staff in the creation of a recruitment plan for the outreach program and activities. E
Communicate with prospective students and facilitate their admission to the college; advise students of admission policies and procedures; assist with registration of students. E
Prepare the outreach/recruitment program budget. E
Prepare and submit annual outreach/recruitment program goals and objectives and a variety of program reports. E
Maintain inventory of office supplies. E
Perform related duties as assigned.
E = Essential Duties
Any combination equivalent to a bachelor's degree in psychology, education, liberal arts or related field and three years experience organizing and implementing a student recruiting/outreach program or other related student services program or instructional experience in an educational institution.
Valid California driver's license
EXAMINATION AND SELECTION PROCESS:
This is an examination open to the public and current district employees seeking a promotional opportunity. To ensure consideration, please submit your application materials by January 16, 2020.
The examination process will consist of any of the following components:
A) Evaluation of Training and Experience (T&E) = Qualifying (pass/fail)
B) Technical Interview = 100% weighting on final score
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications stated by the filing deadline in order to move forward in the testing process. Those candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will have their application materials reviewed during a Training and Experience Evaluation (T&E). A T&E is an assessment of training and experience that has prepared the candidate for the position. The nine (9) candidates with the highest passing scores on the T&E will be invited to the technical interview. The examination process is subject to change as needs dictate. All required documents must be submitted by the applicant. Human Resources Department staff will not upload your documents for you. The VCCCD does not accept letters of recommendation for classified positions. Please do not attempt to attach letters of recommendation to your application.
Upon completion of the examination, the eligibility list will be compiled by combining the final examination score with applicable seniority and veteran's credits, if any. The candidates will be ranked according to their total score on the eligibility list. Certification will be made from the highest three ranks of the eligibility list. This eligibility list will be used to fill current vacancies for up to one year from the date of the technical interview.
All appointments made from eligibility lists for initial appointment or for promotion, with certain exceptions, shall be probationary for a period of six (6) months or one hundred thirty (130) days of paid service, whichever is longer. Classified management, police, and designated executive classifications shall be probationary for a period of one (1) year of paid service from initial appointment or promotion.
