Director Undergraduate Programs - Advising Center

In order to ensure high quality undergraduate programs and services are provided within the College of Business, the Director interfaces with College deans, department chairs, and faculty to identify, develop, and offer engaging curricula that meet evolving business needs. The Director supervises a team comprised of an Associate Director, several Assistant Directors, an administrative assistant, and a varying number of graduate assistants.

Process Improvement: The Director leads efforts to improve the efficiency of processes and operations in the Undergraduate Programs office.

Program Monitoring and Evaluation: The Director proactively prepares, evaluates, and disseminates data pertaining to the undergraduate programs and their effectiveness. This includes preparation, statistical analysis, and interpretation of survey instruments. These reports are an essential aspect of program evaluation and continuous improvement.

Student Development: The Director plans and executes student development programs and activities that are academic and/or co-curricular in nature. Working with the Undergraduate Programs team, the Director creates a yearly programming calendar for students and publicizes these on current College of Business media outlets. The Director is responsible for teaching two sections of COAD1000 for business students.

Student Recruitment and Retention: The Director develops and executes student recruitment and retention activities including: responding to inquiries, planning and participation in high school and community college fairs or similar activities, relationship management and support of current student population, and other activities as appropriate.

Student Advising: The Director is one of the contact people for advising and assisting with class scheduling for current and entering undergraduate business students. These duties include: monitoring student progress towards graduation, keeping current students informed concerning program activities and requirements, and general student contact, both face-to-face and electronic.

Event Planning: The Director prepares and executes undergraduate programming events, such as our annual Freshman Orientation, Leadership Conference, etc. The Director identifies and investigates new and potentially impactful events for Undergraduate Programs.

Communications: The Director takes a comprehensive approach to communicating with various stakeholders. This includes establishing and maintaining program contact and tracking of alumni.
The Director investigates and seeks to resolve student concerns related to undergraduate programs.

Other Duties as Assigned: The normal work schedule of the position is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Some after-hours and weekend work is required. Candidate serves on College of Business and University committees as appropriate. Some evening and weekend duties and responsibilities accompany this position as directed by the Associate Dean for Student & Faculty Development. Some travel may be required.
Contingent upon the availability of funds.

Minimum Education/Experience:
The Director must possess a graduate degree (MBA, MA, MS, PhD, or EdD) in a closely related discipline (counseling, adult education, educational leadership, business administration, public administration, psychology, or higher education administration) from an appropriately accredited institution. The Director must have a minimum of seven (7) years leadership experience in academic advising or counseling in an institution of higher education. Strong interpersonal, analytical, organizational and customer-service skills are required. Demonstrated experience managing multiple priorities in a fast paced business environment is essential and candidates should enjoy working in a team-oriented environment. The candidate must have a track record of successfully executing priorities without constant direct supervision.
