Description
This recruitment is being conducted to establish a list of eligible candidates that will be used to fill district-wide, current and upcoming, temporary and regular vacancies for the duration of the list, not to exceed one year. The immediate vacancy is a 12-month, 100% position located at Oxnard College.

Under the functional supervision of the Dental Hygiene Coordinator and administrative supervision of a dean, perform specialized front and back office duties for the dental hygiene clinic.
Representative Duties
Serve as dental receptionist, department secretary, and dental assistant. E

Oversee the sterilization of equipment and clinical facilities. E

Collect fees for clinical services; submit dental insurance forms for services rendered; maintain electronic and hard-copy clinic patient records in accordance with laws and clinic procedures. E

Issue dental materials and equipment for student use; maintain records of materials and equipment issued to students and instructors. E

Maintain stock rooms, laboratories, and other assigned areas in a safe, clean, and orderly condition; oversee the proper use of facilities and safe practices. E

Assist students and instructors with developing dental x-rays. E

Assist instructors with preparing materials and supplies prior to class instruction. E

Prepare course materials, correspondence, letters, reports, requisitions, memos, and other materials from copy, rough draft, or oral instructions. E

Update and maintain the Oxnard College Dental Hygiene Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan and the Hazard Communication Standard documentation per Cal/OSHA regulations. E

Update and maintain a variety of files and records related to radiation safety protocol and employee testing, laboratory procedures manuals, student records, instructional materials, inventories, purchase orders and equipment repairs. E

Generate and maintain budget and expenditure reports. E

Assist faculty and staff with organizing and conducting student recruitment activities, including job fairs and informational workshops; respond to inquiries related to program admission and requirements. E

Train and provide work direction to student workers as assigned. E

Assist faculty and staff in the performance of infection control duties with the laboratory as appropriate.

Assist faculty and staff in the handling and disposal of chemical and biological wastes and other potentially hazardous materials according to established laws and regulations as appropriate.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Graduation from high school or evidence of equivalent proficiency AND successful completion of an accredited dental assisting program.

Experience
Three years of experience performing front office duties in a dental office, including one year of experience performing back office duties as a dental assistant.
Supplemental Information
EXAMINATION AND SELECTION PROCESS:

This is an examination open to the public and current district employees seeking a promotional opportunity. To ensure consideration, please submit your application materials by July 22, 2019.

The examination process will consist of any of the following components:

A) Evaluation of Training and Experience (T&E) = Qualifying (pass/fail)
B) Technical Interview = 100% weighting on final score

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications stated by the filing deadline in order to move forward in the testing process. Those candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will have their application materials reviewed during a Training and Experience Evaluation (T&E). A T&E is an assessment of training and experience that has prepared the candidate for the position. The nine (9) candidates with the highest passing scores on the T&E will be invited to the technical interview. The examination process is subject to change as needs dictate. All communication regarding this process will be delivered via email.

ELIGIBILITY LIST:
Upon completion of the examination, the eligibility list will be compiled by combining the final examination score with applicable seniority and veteran's credits, if any. The candidates will be ranked according to their total score on the eligibility list. Certification will be made from the highest three ranks of the eligibility list. This eligibility list will be used to fill current vacancies for up to one year from the date of the technical interview.

PROBATIONARY PERIOD:
All appointments made from eligibility lists for initial appointment or for promotion, with certain exceptions, shall be probationary for a period of six (6) months or one hundred thirty (130) days of paid service, whichever is longer. Classified management, police, and designated executive classifications shall be probationary for a period of one (1) year of paid service from initial appointment or promotion.
