Closed Landfill & Technical Support Student

Job Summary
This posting will be used to fill 2 Student Worker Positions.
These positions exist to complete the tasks of the mapping groundwater contamination project funded by the Legislative Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources (LCCMR). The student workers will mine data from project files, prepare and enter data into the MPCA EQuIS, assist the project manager with mapping.
Work hours are part-time during the school year and full-time during the summer.
Minimum Qualifications
College student with a major in a field related to environmental data processing.
Completed course work in data management and/or hydrology/hydrogeology demonstrating the ability to process large data sets with attention to detail, contour extracted data.
Experience working with environmental sampling data.
Experience working with GIS software and electronic data systems.
(To be eligible for appointment as a Student Worker you must be a student enrolled in an educational program or planning to enroll within three months. Students may be "off" for the summer or for one semester/quarter and remain employed as student workers, but such absences cannot exceed one semester/quarter in a year. As a student you must be enrolled in high school or in a post-secondary or graduate program. If a student is enrolled at a credit-granting institution he/she must carry at least six semester (nine quarter) credits. If enrolled at a non-credit granting institution or one that only offers one credit per class, a student must be taking two or more classes per semester/quarter. Any lesser credit (class) load shall be treated as a semester/quarter off. Graduate students must be enrolled in at least two courses or making progress on a dissertation. You will be asked to complete an Educational Verification form prior to appointment.)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience extracting data from PDF's.
Demonstrated ability to communicate and to work quickly and efficiently under pressure.
Experience working with data using Microsoft Excel, Earthsoft EQuiS and ESRI ArcMap.
Physical Requirements
Requires occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as file boxes. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.
