Salary Range: $42,053 to $80,912 per year

Work Schedule: Full-time

Duties:
Plans, manages, produces, and implements allotment evaluations for assigned allotments; provides and coordinates oversight and review of field and district office range documents for NEPA adequacy; reviews grazing permit applications to ensure compliance with appropriate federal law and regulations; processes protests and appeals, prepares casework in preparation for hearings; and provides input to interdisciplinary reports, environmental assessments resource management plans, and protective stipulations for rangeland ecosystems.

Qualifications:
Specialized Experience for the GS-7 Rangeland Management Specialist: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in rangeland management related work. Work assignments are diverse, limited in complexity, and selected to provide experience and training. Examples: assisting higher level professionals with grazing applications and permits, on-the-ground use supervision, planning and conducting range studies, planning range and watershed improvements, conducting trespass investigations, consulting with livestock operators and preparing land use planning documents; - OR - have 1 year of graduate education leading to a master's degree in rangeland management or directly related field; - OR - meet the requirements for Superior Academic Achievement (S.A.A.) (i.e., Bachelor's degree with a 3.0+ cumulative GPA, etc.). See OPM Qualifications Standard-General Policies E(4)(f); - OR - have an equivalent combination of the type and level of experience and education described above. Only graduate level education may be combined with experience.

Specialized Experience for the GS-9 Rangeland Management Specialist: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in rangeland management related work. At this level, rangeland management specialists independently perform recurring assignments that are more difficult and complex than those performed by a recent graduate. Examples: work requiring the application of expanded professional knowledge, such as assisting with grazing leases, permits, transfers and allotment management plans; monitoring studies, allotment evaluations and inspections; and analyzing multiple resource management issues; - OR - 2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree in the field of rangeland management or directly related fields of study; - OR - have an equivalent combination of the type and level of experience and education described above. Only graduate level education in excess of the first year may be combined with experience.

Specialized Experience for the GS-11 Rangeland Management Specialist: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 level in rangeland management related work. At this level, work assignments require the rangeland management specialist to determine approaches and solutions using professional knowledge or experience of range management operations such as resolving grazing administration issues, developing allotment plans, and serving as principal contact and negotiator for rangeland issues within multiple-use-management areas; - OR - 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in the field of rangeland management or directly related fields of study; - OR - have an equivalent combination of the type and level of experience and education described above. Only graduate level education in excess of the first two years may be combined with experience.
