Service Center Representative

representative, you will provide couples with their marriage
license, process a new driver's first permit, and help residents
understand their real estate tax payments. Every day, our service
centers process hundreds of transactions and each one is unique
to the customer. This job may be a match for you if you are

Brookdale Service Center: 6125 Shingle Creek Parkway, Brooklyn
Center
Government Center Service Center: 300 South 6th St, Minneapolis
Maple Grove Service Center: 9325 Upland Lane North, Maple Grove
Midtown Service Center: 2929 Chicago Avenue, Minneapolis
North Minneapolis Service Center: 1001 Plymouth Ave. N.,
Minneapolis
Ridgedale Service Center: 12601 Ridgedale Drive, Minnetonka
Southdale Service Center: 1225 Southdale Center, Edina

Work hours will be Monday through Friday, any time between the
hours of 7:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Employees must have flexibility to work varying shifts dependent

About the position type:
We currently have two full-time and one part-time vacancy at the
Midtown Service Center.

This posting may be used to fill current and future vacancies at
all service center locations.

The primary duties and responsibilities of these positions
include: •Provide the following list of services: marriage
applications, licenses and certificates; driver's licenses,
permits and IDs; motor vehicle tabs, plates, titles and
registrations; water craft, snowmobile and ATV registrations;
birth and death certificates; hunting and fishing licenses;
auctioneer, transient merchant, lawful gambling, liquor licenses,
and precious metals dealers; notary services and notary
commission filings; cross country ski licenses; marriage
officiant filings; voter registration; and real estate tax
payments.
•Prepare and process various applications/documents for county
and state agencies, and collect appropriate fees.
•Provide accurate and complete information and instructions to
the public regarding laws, policies and procedures; resolve
routine customer complaints.
•Accurately enter data and update records into various county
and state programs.
•Perform cashiering, reception desk, and telephone duties.

Need to have:
You must have one of the following:•Six months or more of
full-time equivalent experience performing public sector center
transactions (i.e processing driver's licenses, and/or motor
vehicle).
•18 months (one and a half years) or more of general clerical
and customer service experience.
•Completion of an approved business school or relevant
technical college program and six months or more of general
clerical and customer service experience.
•Completion of the Career Connections Office Specialist
Train-to-Work program and 12 months or more of general clerical
and customer service experience.
•Completion of the Career Connections Public Sector
Administrative Professional Pathway Training program and six
months or more of general clerical and customer service
experience.

Nice to have: •Experience: ◦Processing driver's licenses
and/or motor vehicle renewals.
◦Providing face-to-face customer service in a high volume,
fast-paced environment.
◦Using Microsoft Excel, Word, or other computer applications.
◦Handling money or processing payments.

•Ability to: ◦Understand laws, policies, rules, and
regulations relating to service center transactions.

•Bilingual skills.

Candidates with fluency in other languages in addition to English
are encouraged to apply. Bilingual candidates who pass a language
assessment may qualify for additional bilingual pay and duties.

Under the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and
Minnesota Statues 171.017 requirements, and as Hennepin County's
service center employees issue driver's licenses and
identification cards, Minnesota law requires applicants to
undergo a background check including fingerprinting conducted by
the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. Certain offenses are
considered disqualifying; those are listed in Code of Federal
Regulations, title 49, section 1572.103.

Invitations to interview will be based upon an assessment of
education and experience.
Final candidates may be required to complete a drug test and/or
background check.
