Cook/Counselor I - Adult (NERCC) (Open)

The salary range reflected above is the normal hiring range for 2019. The full salary range, including longevity pay, is $19.79 - $29.43 per hour.

Under direct supervision of Operations Manager, responsible for the overall food preparation program at the corrections center.These work environment factors are general in nature and may vary depending on the specific position being filled. CONSTANT: Lift up to 15 pounds; balance; grasp/handle; stand; taste/smell; walk; hear; vision; work with and around others; and clients with behavioral challenges. FREQUENT: Carry up to 15 pounds; reach; and talk/speak. OCCASIONAL: Lift and carry up to 50 pounds; push/pull up to 30 pounds; crouch/squat; kneel; reach above shoulder; sit; stoop/bend; and shift work.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Pass/Fail):
  • Two years of paid, verifiable work experience in institutional and/or quantity food preparation; OR graduation from an accredited vocational program in quantity food preparation, cooking and baking, or food service management and one year of paid, verifiable work experience in institutional and/or quantity food preparation.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License.

EXPERIENCE & TRAINING ASSESSMENT (Supplemental Questions: 100% of the scoring process):
Points will be awarded for job-related experience and education exceeding the minimum qualifications. Only experience occurring during the ten most recent years will be used in determining this rating. Experience beyond ten years may be included on the application for purposes of meeting minimum qualifications or informing the hiring authority of your complete employment history.

  • February 19, 2019 - Applicant screening will begin.

  • Week of March 11th - Interviews to be conducted
