Department of Community Corrections and Rehabilitiation Area Director

The Department of Community Corrections and Rehabilitation's
(DOCCR) Administration division is seeking an Area Director to
oversee the Operations and Innovation Services area.

The primary duties and responsibilities of this position
include:
•Create comprehensive plans to deliver services in assigned
area consistent with the department vision and mission.
•Develop and review departmental area budgets.
•Establish performance measurements, evaluate performance
outcomes and plan service changes.
•Develop and maintain close working relationships with the
County Board; other county departments; professional,
governmental, private organizations and other stakeholders.
•Represent the department in county-wide projects and
initiatives.
•Direct the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation
of integrated operations and services for efficiency,
effectiveness and evaluation.

Best Qualified Candidates will have:
•One of the following: ◦Master's degree or higher in
behavioral/social science, criminal justice, business
administration, corrections, public administration or a related
field and five years or more of corrections management or
administrative experience in an organization similar in size and
scope to DOCCR.
◦Bachelor's degree in one of the above fields and seven years
or more of corrections management or administrative experience in
an organization similar in size and scope to DOCCR.

•Experience: ◦Working with internal
compliance/investigations.
◦Preparing and administering a complex budget.
◦Planning, development and implementation of varied service
models.

•Knowledge of: ◦Implementing evidence based practices.
◦Program evaluation and analysis.

•Ability to: ◦Interpret and apply federal, state and local
policies, procedures, laws and regulations.
◦Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with
individuals from diverse communities.
◦Communicate effectively in verbal and written form.
◦Work effectively with an increasingly diverse client
population.

Under facility licensing requirements, positions at the County
Home School and/or Juvenile Detention Center are required to
undergo a Department of Human Services Background Study (MS
245C.13). Convictions for certain crimes will have an effect on
your ability to be hired according to the disqualification
schedule listed in Minnesota Statute 245C.15. Individuals
convicted for any level of Criminal Sexual Conduct are
disqualified from being hired into any position within the DOCCR
under the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA). Other past
involvement with the criminal court system will not automatically
disqualify you from working at the DOCCR; individual
circumstances are reviewed and evaluated confidentially. If you
do not know your exact conviction information, you can refer to
your sentencing order or contact the county where you were
convicted.
