Job Type: Faculty - Part-Time Pool
Examples of Duties:
1. Provide academic, transfer, career, and personal counseling to assist culturally diverse students in achieving their educational goals. Provide counseling in special programs and services such as Academic, Transfer, Veteran, LGBT, and other populations.
2. Provide information on college credit and vocational noncredit programs.
3. Providing information regarding transfer, graduation, and certificate requirements.
4. Experience evaluating college transcripts (unofficial) from multiple institutions and how they apply towards transfer.
5. Assist students in making informed educational and vocational/career decisions.
6. Provide crisis counseling while demonstrating sensitivity and understanding of diverse cultural, international, gender, sexual orientation, disability, and ethnic perspectives to assist students dealing with issues that could interfere with their success in college.
7. Demonstrate an understanding of basic skill and developmental education issues and participate in an early alert and/or probation counseling system, including referral and follow-up.
8. Design, develop, and teach counseling related curriculum, workshops, and classes.
9. Develop and write abbreviated and comprehensive student education plans.
10. Integrate internet resources in the counseling process and utilize existing technology that supports student counseling functions within the institution (I.E. Banner, SarsGrid, Degree Audit, Electronic Educational Planning systems and ASSIST.org).
11. Maintain effective relationships on campus with instructional and student service departments that directly affect the counseling of students.
12. Initiate collaborative relationships with instructional faculty to enhance and support student learning, retention, and success.
13. Contribute to the identification, analysis, and assessment of Student Learning Outcomes.
14. Participate in effective marketing strategies and outreach to promote student access and encourage broad-based utilization of student support services.
15. Participate in a full range of department and participatory governance committees and student activities.
16. Counselors will be expected to perform other duties consistent with their job description and the faculty contract.
17. Perform other related duties assigned by the supervisor.
