Minnesota Specialty Health Systems (MSHS) in Wadena is seeking a
talented team leader to provide administrative functions in the
delivery of treatment services for individuals with serious
mental illness, chemical dependency, and co-occurring medical
conditions. As an Intensive Residential Treatment Services (IRTS)
facility, MSHS focuses on rehabilitative education, building
interpersonal skills, and developing community engagement skills,
as well as increasing independence and self-management of their
illness, behavior, and emotion. Tucked in northern woodlands, the
16-bed facility was built with person-centered mental health care
in mind. The program’s approximately 90-day length of stay
offers the opportunity for extended patient engagement and

Job Description:
The Group Supervisor Assistant is responsible for the program
operations by assessing, developing and implementing effective
work methods and procedures that oversee the resident records,
operational policy and procedure development, fiscal and
budgetary analysis, organization of program space and work and
information flow in collaboration with the Treatment Director.
Also ensures that an appropriate number and type of resident care
staff are scheduled per Intensive Residential Treatment Services
licensing variances.

Other:
Minimum Qualifications:
• A minimum of one year supervisory experience in a hospital
or clinical environment providing direct counseling,
rehabilitative, or patient care services to individuals with
mental illness, as well as co-occurring disorders, such as
chemical dependency and intellectual disability; OR
• A minimum of eighteen months supervisory experience as
described above, but in other than a hospital or clinical
environment (e.g., corrections, forensics, business); OR
• A minimum of two years paraprofessional experience (e.g.,
Developmental Disability Residential Lead, Structured Program
Assistant, LPN, or Chemical Dependency Counselor) in a hospital
or clinical environment providing direct counseling,
rehabilitative patient care, or related services to individuals
with mental illness, as well as co-occurring disorders, such as
chemical dependency and intellectual disability. A Bachelor's
degree with a major in Rehabilitation Therapy, Health Sciences,
or Behavioral Sciences (Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, or
closely related area) may be substituted for one year of
experience at this level; OR Bachelor's degree minor (or credit
equivalent of 18 to 21 quarter credits) in one of these areas may
be substituted for six months of experience at this level; OR
• An equivalent combination of the above; AND
• A valid Driver's License; AND
• Must also meet the requirements for a Mental Health
Practitioner as outlined below:

Mental Health Practitioner means a person providing services to
persons with mental illness and who is qualified in at least one
of the following ways:
A) Holds a bachelor's degree in one of the behavioral sciences or
related fields from an accredited college or university; AND
1. has at least 2,000 hours of supervised experience in the
delivery of services to persons with mental illness; OR
2. is fluent in the non-English language of the ethnic group to
which at least 50 percent of the practitioner's clients belong,
completes 40 hours of training in the delivery of services to
persons with mental illness, and receives clinical supervision
from a mental health professional at least once a week until the
requirement of 2,000 hours of supervised experience is met;
B) Has at least 6,000 hours of supervised experience in the
delivery of services to persons with mental illness;
C) Is a graduate students in one of the behavioral sciences or
related fields and is formally assigned by an accredited college
or university to an agency or facility for clinical training; or
D) Holds a master's or other graduate degree in one of the
behavioral sciences or related fields from an accredited college
or university and has less than 4,000 hours post-master's
experience in the treatment of mental illness.
